Aaron Smith’s Road to the Mini Miglia Final at Silverstone!

Aaron Smith's classic Mini Miglia ready to race

As we look back at the journey so far in the 2024 Mini Miglia Championship, it’s been nothing short of exhilarating, especially for our sponsored driver Aaron Smith. From spins and tricky rain-soaked circuits to podium finishes, Aaron has demonstrated skill, determination, and a never-give-up attitude that’s kept him within striking distance of the championship lead. Now, before we head into the final rounds at Silverstone, the excitement is at an all-time high, with everything to play for.

Rounds 9 & 10: Anglesey – Wet and Wild

The Welsh coast served up a true test of endurance, with unpredictable weather adding to the drama. Aaron’s performance at Anglesey showcased his versatility, navigating both dry and wet conditions. After a solid P4 in qualifying, Race 1 didn’t start ideally with a 360° spin right off the bat, but Aaron’s quick recovery meant he still managed to secure P4 in a tightly fought race.

Race 2 saw the heavens open, but as we know, Aaron thrives in the rain. Starting from P2, he quickly took the lead, battling it out in slippery conditions before finishing P3. A solid points haul left him in great shape for the next challenge at his home circuit, Brands Hatch.

Rounds 11, 12 & 13: Brands Hatch – A Gruelling Weekend

Brands Hatch, Aaron’s local circuit, proved to be one of the toughest weekends of the season, but it didn’t break his spirit. Despite mechanical issues, he powered through with two 5th-place finishes in Races 1 and 3. The challenge in Race 2, where a steering issue dropped him down to P12, could have been disastrous for his championship bid, but his team were quick to respond, replacing the steering rack in time for Race 3.

Aaron’s perseverance paid off with a remarkable recovery from 10th to 5th, showcasing both his skill and the teamwork that goes into every race. And just to add to the excitement, Aaron also had a thrilling weekend in the Mini 7 class, battling his way to strong finishes in all three races.

Rounds 14 & 15: Castle Combe – A Battle Against the Elements

Castle Combe saw the weather turn from unpredictable to downright treacherous, testing the nerve and skills of every driver. Despite the rain, Aaron qualified P3 on Saturday, setting him up for a thrilling battle in the dry Race 1, where he claimed another P3 after swapping positions with his competitors nearly every lap.

Sunday brought more rain, and conditions deteriorated further. Starting P7, Aaron made an impressive surge through the field, pushing up to the lead pack before aquaplaning in standing water, dropping to P6. His relentless drive saw him claw back to P4, but a red flag meant the race ended prematurely, with Aaron securing P5.
