Interior Panel Kit - Oval Speedo - Australian MK1 Mini - 64-71

This trim kit includes all of the necessary items to completely renew the interior of any Australian Mk1 Cooper S.

The various ‘export’ Minis built for the hotter climates were often well ahead of the UK models in terms of passenger comfort, and benefitted from many positive modifications before we did here in GB. This usually meant that the vast majority of the trim, almost always of local manufacture, was only very loosely based around UK production practice and specification; therefore not all of our standard trim will fit these foreign built cars. Smaller productions runs and the desire to create a premium product often aimed at the better off, meant that some complicated techniques and unusual materials were incorporated to vary the end product. The result was a proliferation of highly individual batches of cars that share very little in terms of trim specification; nevertheless we are able to offer this kit after closely replicating original trim to develop patterns

The kit comprises standard UK pattern speedo/dash panels to fit either side of the oval binnacle, a dash-tray liner, rear parcel shelf, rear pocket liners, rear wheel-arch covers and spare material to cover the dash top rail. The door panels, rear quarter panels and door pocket liner are all especially hand-cut to order from high quality automotive grade board before being trimmed. The door lining panels fit flush against the inside door skin as per the original items, to accommodate the winding mechanism, winding handle, and door release. The extra mechanism that these doors were never originally designed to house necessitates that the door pockets were much slimmer than their UK equivalent, and the space inside the door bins was also reduced. The rear quarter panels have to be modified from UK patterns. The design on the panels features 8 thin horizontal lines welded into the covering vinyl replicating the original dimensions and style.
